History

Northern Slovakia's Diocese of Spiš (Slovak: Spišská diecéza, Latin: Dioecesis Scepusiensis, Hungarian: Szepesi egyházmegye) is a Latin Church see with its seat at Spišská Kapitula. Its territory takes in the central and eastern parts of the Žilina Region and the western part of the Prešov Region. Figures from 2024 give an area of 7,802 km2 and a population of 610,040, of whom 452,310 (74.1%) are Catholic; 363 priests serve the diocese.
