History

The Syriac Catholic Church, a sui iuris church using the Antiochian Rite in the Syriac language, counts among its Syrian jurisdictions the Archeparchy of Homs (-Hama-Nabk), informally called Homs of the Syriacs. Nominally metropolitan, this Eastern Catholic archdiocese has no suffragans. Its seat is the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Homs, and since March 2023 its head has been Archbishop Julian Yacoub Mourad, born Jacques Mourad.
