History
In central Syria the Melkite Greek Catholic Church maintains the Archeparchy of Homs (Latin: Archeparchy Hemesena Graecorum Melkitarum-Epiphaniensis-Iabrudensis), a nominally metropolitan archeparchy of that Byzantine Rite, Arabic-speaking church. Founded on March 4, 1849, it possesses no suffragan sees, though two eparchial titles have been merged into it.
