History
Since its erection in 1897, the Diocese of Salto has served as a Latin Church territory of the Catholic Church in Uruguay, taking in four departments: Artigas, Salto, Paysandú, and Río Negro. Its see rests at the Cathedral of Salto, and it stands as a suffragan of the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Montevideo. Arturo Eduardo Fajardo Bustamante, transferred from the Diocese of San José de Mayo by appointment on 15 June 2020, is the current bishop.
What is kept by invitation
The record above is published because it is public: what this see is, when it was erected, who holds its chair, and where it stands among its neighbours.
The working record is not. The chancery's address, telephone and email, the clergy of the see, and the hours of Mass, confession and adoration in the parishes within it are kept for members, and a person reads every request.
