Latin Church
The Latin rite Diocese of Port-Vila covers the entire island nation of Vanuatu. Erected as the Apostolic Prefecture of the New Hebrides on 9 February 1901, raised to an Apostolic Vicariate in 1904, it became a diocese on 21 June 1966 under Pope Paul VI and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Noumea. Its cathedral is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Port-Vila.
