Diocese of Campos publishes reflection on human personhood

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Deacon Adelino Barcellos Filho of the Diocese of Campos describes the human person as a spiritual and relational being whose biological, intellectual, psychological, and social dimensions find unity in Christ.

Writing for the Diocese of Campos, Barcellos Filho explains that the face of Jesus Christ reveals the greatness and supernatural vocation of humanity toward love and holiness. He notes that human fullness requires integrating the body, intelligence, affectivity, conscience, freedom, sociability, and spirituality.

The deacon warns that reducing people to consumption, productivity, aesthetics, or immediate emotions fragments human dignity and destroys the foundation of fraternity. He argues that viewing Christ as the center of the human mystery reveals that individuals are ends in themselves with an eternal vocation.
