Iconographer Joseph Malham created a new icon for Pope Leo XIV

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Chicago-based iconographer Joseph Malham was commissioned to create a sacred image for Pope Leo XIV. The request came from Michael Airdo, a lawyer and lifelong friend of the Pope, who sought to provide a gift before a planned trip to Rome.

The icon honors the Pope's history with the province of Nuestra Madre del Buen Consejo, which he joined in 1977. The artwork recognizes this connection and the protection of the Virgin Mary.
