History

One of the Latin suburbicarian sees of the Diocese of Rome, Albano (Latin: Albanensis) comprises seven towns in the Province of Rome. Its seat, Albano Laziale, lies on the Appian Way some 15 kilometres (9 mi) from Rome. Since 1966 the see has had both a titular bishop and a diocesan bishop.
