History

Erected in 1317, the Diocese of Saint-Flour (Latin: Dioecesis Sancti Flori; French: Diocèse de Saint-Flour) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in France covering the department of Cantal. Until 2002 it was suffragan of (subject to) the Archdiocese of Bourges; with Pope John Paul II's general reorganization of the French church's structure it became suffragan of the Archdiocese of Clermont. The bishop's seat is in Saint-Flour, Cantal.
