History

Established in 1887 after Irish, German and Czech Catholic immigrants settled the region, the Diocese of Lincoln (Latin: Dioecesis Lincolnensis) takes in most of the eastern and central portions of Nebraska, United States, south of the Platte River. It is suffragan to the archdiocese of Omaha, with its episcopal see at Lincoln, Nebraska. Bishop James D. Conley has led the diocese since 2012, and the Cathedral of the Risen Christ serves as its cathedral parish.
