The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis is a Latin Church metropolitan archdiocese erected as the Diocese of Saint Paul in 1850 and elevated to an archdiocese in 1888. Archbishop Bernard Hebda has led the see since 2016.

History

In the state of Minnesota in the United States, the Catholic Church is served by the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis (Latin: Archidiœcesis Paulopolitana et Minneapolitana). Unusually, its archbishop presides over two principal churches: the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Saint Paul serves as the mother church, while the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis holds the rank of co-cathedral.

  • Heart of the Beast — PG-13 (A-lll)

    The adventure drama Heart of the Beast, directed by David Ayer, follows a civilian and his German shepherd, Odin, as they struggle to survive in the Alaskan wilderness. The film stars Brad Pitt as James Belmont, a former Special Forces Command Sgt. Maj. who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Belmont suffers a heart attack while piloting a plane, causing the aircraft to crash. He and Odin must trek 50-plus miles through the landscape to reach a highway. The film depicts Odin as a survivor of a recent conflict, featuring physical injuries such as a prosthetic leg and titanium false teeth. Screenwriter Cameron Alexander wrote the script to highlight the bond between the man and his dog. Aside from a brief appearance by J.K. Simmons as a stranger, the production focuses almost entirely on the two protagonists.

The president noted that Sheen is the first American-born bishop to be beatified by the Catholic Church.
