History
Also in northern Thailand, the Diocese of Chiang Rai (Dioecesis Chiangraiensis) is a Latin Catholic suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bangkok. It spans 37,839 km2 across four provinces, Chiang Rai, Nan, Phayao and Phrae, plus the Ngao District of Lampang Province, and is organized into 16 parishes with 47 priests in all. As of 2018, Catholics numbered 18,062 among the area's 2.684 million citizens.
