History
Erected in 2000, the Diocese of Laredo (Latin: Dioecesis Laredanus, Spanish: Diócesis de Laredo) serves South Texas in the United States as a suffragan of the metropolitan Archdiocese of San Antonio. San Agustin Cathedral in Laredo is its mother church, and John Jairo Gomez serves as bishop.

Diocese of Laredo to host Life Chain on October 4, 2026
The Diocese of Laredo will host a Life Chain on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The gathering is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. along Hillside Road and McPherson Road in Laredo. The Diocese of Laredo Family Life Office describes the event as a peaceful gathering for people of all faiths to pray for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death. The office also announced a pro-life poster contest for children and youth in grades 1 through 12. This year's theme is "Mary, Mother of Life, Pray for Us!" Participants must submit their artwork by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2026.
