Catholic Intelligence1 min read

CONFER Huelva held a training day on Saturday, October 24, 2026, to mark the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The event included the celebration of the Eucharist and a shared meal to encourage fraternity among participants.

Lluís Oviedo Torró, a Franciscan theologian and professor at the Pontifical Antonianum University in Rome, served as the speaker. His presentation, titled "Saint Francis as an Inspiring Model for Current Religious Life," examined the relevance of the saint's evangelical experience. Torró spoke on returning to the sources and the spiritual calls of Saint Francis, including a sense of religious reality, service to the Church, compassion for those who suffer or are alone, and an attitude of joy and hope.

The day concluded with a period of dialogue where participants shared reflections on the session.
